BEHIND THE STUDIO
Bloom Art Studio is a process art and creative space offering art exploration for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers along with process and art education opportunities for older children and adults.

Bloom offers a range of classes, open studio time, themed workshops and special events for children and families. Process art is a focus on the process of making art, rather than the end result. We are a fun, creative place for children where they are encouraged to use their imagination, make a mess, and express their artistic ideas. All infant, toddler, and preschool classes are structured with several stations set ups around the studio: Invitations to create, large instillations, sensory exploration, and hands-on play. Our older classes are a bit more structured, with some instruction but offer plenty of free choice, hands-on messy play and opportunities for exploration and experimentation. Our classes include parented classes for younger children, drop off classes for children who are ready, and adult classes. Children’s classes run for 5-week sessions but there are multiple opportunities per week for open studio time as well.
THE STUDIO

Bloom studio is located in the Mendenhall Annex Suite 317. We want our space to feel inviting, fun, and full of joy! A place where families can connect with each other through art and create a sense of community with other families. The space has been designed to foster independence for children, where they are invited to move at their own pace, choose which activities they engage in and for how long. Activity stations and materials for each class are intentionally placed at the child's level with their age in mind, to encourage self-help skills, cooperation, and let them take the lead. The hope of this space is to create an atmosphere where creativity and freedom of expression is encouraged and connection is the focus.
ABOUT ME
Hello! My name is Talea Kellar and I am the owner and Creative Director behind the scenes here at Bloom Children’s Art Studio in Juneau, Alaska.
Making has always been a passion for me. When I was a little girl, I would sit for hours drawing, cutting, and designing with whatever materials were available. But my greatest passion in life is working with children. My background includes a bachelors’ degree in Child Development, and 17 years working in the field of Early Education. It is my firm belief that this is the most influential time in a child’s life. I have decided to finally combine these two passions and open a children’s art studio to spread my love of creating art with young children with families in Juneau.

I am the mother of a 8-year-old son, Jack, and a toddler, Finn. I enjoy spending my free time with my husband, Trevor, and sons boating, camping, and enjoying the natural beauty of Juneau. I also enjoy setting up early morning “invitations to create” or science explorations for my boys and watching their discoveries and wonder.
